The Cheetahs were left stunned by a spirited Cubs’ performance at Hougang Stadium on Friday evening.

Two goals from Sahil Suhaimi  and another from former Hougang favourite Jordan Webb secured an important victory for the Young Lions. It was only their second win for the season.

The Cheetahs had started strongly and could have taken the lead on the 15th minute. Erwan Gunawan had controlled an excellent cross from Geison Moura, but Syazwan Buhari managed to save from close range.

On the 39th minutes, Sahil Suhaimi stormed through the Hougang defesive wall and slot through the ball past Fadhil Salim to give the Cubs an important lead.

Five minutes later, Jordan Webb doubled their lead with a close range effort after beating the Hougang defence offside trap.

Geison Moura had a great chance five minutes into the second half. Dribbling through the right flank, he found himself in a a one on one situation with Syazwan Buhari. The Cubs’ custodian blocked the Brazilian’s shot for a corner.

Much to the horror of the Cheetahs faithful, Sahil Suhaimi then produced another spectacular solo effort in the 69th minute, eluding three defenders and the goalkeepers to net the final goal of the game.

A melee on the pitch resulted in Sahil Suhaimi being sent off with a straight red card while Hougang’s Fazli Jaffar was also dismissed with his second yellow card of the game.
