The Courts Young Lions achieved their first treble in their history – when they got their third win in a season against Hougang United with a 2-0 victory at the Jalan Besar Stadium on a wet Saturday Evening.

The day was threatened by a sudden downpour in the evening, and the LWS system went off 30 mins before the game.

However, the kick off went ahead 45 mins after the scheduled time.

Faris Ramli, who was transferred from LionsXII scored on his debut to put CYL ahead on 8 mins.

The first chance of the game fell in the hands of Sahil who let fly a strike from the edge of the penalty box.

Few moments later , Geison Moura came close but his finish went wide.

Hougang were trying to find the equalizer but the Young Lions’ provided constant pressure and remained unmoved.

In the second half, Faris was indeed the man of the match with his stunning and nippy performance using his pace to tormemt the Hougang defence before being brought down to receive a free kick at the edge of the box. Sahil stood up and curl the ball into the top corner.

Things got worse for Hougang when Fairoz Hasan received his marching orders for a second yellow on 75 mins.

Hougang continued to find a consolation, but it was the cubs who remained victorious.
