Its been a long time that the Cheetahs had an away defeat, however, the Wasps of Brunei DPMM had finally put the Cheetahs to rest by handing them a 1-0 defeat.

The Wasps have not beaten the Cheetahs yet this season, however a Rodrigo Tosi’s header in half time injury time handed the Wasps all three points.

The game truly showed why Fadhil Salim is always in Singapore coach Bernd Stange’s plans, as he produced outstanding saves against a robust Wasps’ side, who were determined to erase the Cheetahs as one of their bogey teams this season.

In fact, the Cheetahs started well, with two chances by Mamadou Diallo being presented by the Wasps’ ageing defence, however, he scuffed both chances wide.

Fadhil started his show on 17th minutes, in which Azwan Ali Rahman was denied by the custodian, however, the resulting corner caused Fadhil an eye injury and also the large amount of injury time.

The Cheetahs almost equalized right on half time. Croatian centre half Igor Cerina’s header was punched out by Wardun Yussof. Diallo got onto the rebound, but ended up in the side netting.

That opportunity proved to be costly, from a corner kick, as Rodrigo Tosi escaped his marker and headed the ball home past Fadhil Salim for the lead.

Fadhil Salim then continued his heroics of the day with saves from Azwan Ali and also produced a goalbound shot destined for the top corner by Adi Said, but the 30-year-old managed to deny further goals for the Wasps.

At the other end, Igor Cerina and Wardun Yussof were on a heated battle, as the Croatian almost scored the equalizer for the Cheetahs, only for Subhi Abdillah to deny with a goal line clearance.

The Cheetahs ended the night with a one-goal defeat, however the Cheetahs needed the points to escape from being one of the bottom two teams in the league, and this will start off from the fixture against Harimau Muda at Hougang on 24th October.
