HOUGANG UNITED P
Hougang’s league game against the Stags at Clementi Stadium was abandoned – after 2 hours of nervous wait, by fans an players alike of both teams.
Both sets of fans were awaiting all sorts of reunion, particularly the Hougang players and the Tampines coach Nenad Bacina, who coached the Cheetahs last season to an eighth placed finish.
However, at approximately 6:50 pm, the Lightning Warning System was activated, much to the dismay of both sets of players, who were just getting ready for the pre-match warm up. After an hour or so, a heavy downpour followed by thunder and lighning ensued around the skies in Clementi.
However, fans were made to be disappointed, as they were made to wait for almost two hours, before the match officials decided to call of the match to a later date – the first time an S.League game was called off since the Lightning Warning System was set up in all stadiums.
The Cheetahs will meet Warriors FC next Sunday.
