The Prime League boys made it their second win in the trot, after they dispatched the Rams at Woodlands Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The massacre of the Prime League boys still lingers back in April when Moon Soon Ho scored 4 out of the six goals, to condemn the Cheetahs to a shocking 1-6 defeat to the then bottom of the table Rams.

However, the Rams yesterday were without the Korean striker and Farizal Basri. Instead, Farouk Farkhan, old boy Ridhwan Osman and Hidhir Hasbiallah from the senior team took their place.

The Rams’ main threat came from Andy Ahmad, however, the Cheetahs’ stand in defence of Roimy Kassim, Fazly Hasan, Benedict Chua and Azan Jaya stood tall from the Rams’ attack.

Hidhir Hasbiallah almost took the lead for the home side with a freekick that beat Hakim Sutar, but not the crossbar. However, it was the visitors that took the elusive lead.

Hwang Kok Chang crossed the ball to Jerome Baker. The lanky Canadian, missing in action since the game against Warriors FC, managed to chest the ball down, and volleyed the ball first time past Fearghus Bruce.

The Cheetahs made it two, two minutes before half time. An excellent first time pass from Jerome Baker put Shameer Aziq clear through goal. The Cheetahs’ prodigy managed to evade the incoming Fearghus Bruce to put a passing shot into the net for the two goal lead.

However, Woodlands equalized through Andy Ahmad a minute later, after Hakim Sutar mistimed his run to grab the ball. Andy managed to evade Hakim and slot the ball into an empty net to make the score 2-1.

The second half is all but Hougang’s game, with Jerome Baker the player who gets the last laugh. He would have made a selection headache for Johana Johari with his performance against Woodlands on that day.

On 49 minutes, an excellent passing work from Al-Roshuzairi and Aubrey Ang found Azan Jaya on the left flank. He crossed the ball to Jerome Baker, who managed to stop the ball to put himself on one-on-one situation with Fearghus Bruce. The Canadian managed to avoid the onrushing Fearghus and slot the ball into the empty net for a 3-1 lead.

Jerome got his hat trick seven minutes later from an almost similar situation, this time a pass from Shameer Aziq put the Canadian clear again. This time, he wasted no chance to whack the ball past Fearghus for a 4-1 lead.

It was all over on 86 minutes, when Robert Eziakor muscled past the entire left flank and the Woodlands defence, and shot the ball past Fearghus for a 5-1 lead.

The score stayed the same and the Cheetahs ended the game on a happier note, with another elusive three points.
