After five straight heavy defeats, the Cheetahs have finally turned into a corner with a stunning away win against Warriors FC at Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Wednesday night.

The starting strikers Robert Eziakor and Shameer Aziq both had their hands on all four goals, as a surprising Cheetahs side finally find their feet to score their goals.

However, it was the home side that scored first early in the half. But the lead didn’t last long as Shameer Aziq equalized for the Cheetahs minutes after the Warriors goal. It was his eighth goal for the team, in ten games.

Just before the half time whistle, Hougang first teamer Robert Eziakor, who was in this game to regain match fitness, plundered in a goal from a corner which brought Hougang the lead for the first time to carry till the half time whistle.

Any Warriors come back was in doubt, when Robert Eziakor mazy runs confused the Warriors’ defence. He set up for Shameer Aziq, whose shot was saved by goalkeeper Zainol Gulam. The rebound hit one of his defenders which was deflected into the net. The Cheetahs took a 3-1 lead after 71 minutes.

Hougang added a further goal few minutes before the final whistle, when Benedict Chua managed to grab an assist, when he found Robert Eziakor unmarked in the box, and the Nigerian managed to score from close range to make it 4-1 to the Cheetahs.

It was only the Prime League boy’s second victory of the season. They will next face Woodlands Wellington at the Woodlands Stadium on May 19th to avenge the 6-1 defeat at Hougang earlier in April.
