Prime League Result: Hougang United 1-6 Woodlands Wellington

Hougang United 1

Woodlands Wellington 6

HGFC Scorer: Shameer Aziq 68′

Moon Soon Ho’s presence for the Rams proved to be too much for the Prime League boys as they fell to a 6-1 rout at Hougang Stadium on Saturday.

The South Korean striker, unable to appear to the Rams for yesterday’s senior game due to suspension, put up a splendid display by bagging four goals and assisting the other two before being substituted in the 90th minute. The other goals were scored by the Rams no. 24 and no. 26.

The Young Cheetahs were second best in most of the departments, however Shameer Aziq had opportunities to open the scoring as early as the 24th minute, however, he slipped as the last minute as he went one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The Rams with three senior players; Moon, Farizal Basri and Oswind Surya showed their experience against a youthful Cheetahs midfield. The game also saw the return of Jerome Baker, after being out since the opening game against Young Lions. Baker needs a 90 minutes runout to regain his match fitness.

Hougang only had a consolation goal in the 68th minute, when a corner from Hwang Kok Chang was headed out by the Woodlands’ defence. However, Shameer Aziq managed to pick the ball from outside the box and  shot past the Woodlands Custodian.

The Cheetahs have 2 points from a possible nine from their first three games. Hougang will meet Tanjong Pagar United at Queenstown Stadium next Sunday, 24th March.
