The Prime League boys started off their campaign with a 2-2 win, courtesy by two well executed goals from right winger Shameer Aziq.

The Young Cheetahs did not start the game well in the first half, going behind after 37 minutes, when a mix up between centre half Sim Shun Hai and stand-in goalkeeper had a mix up in the defence, allowing Home United number 26, Sim, lobbing the ball above the onrushing goalkeeper and into the net.

The half time score stayed at 1-0, until a combination of Nurhilmi Jasni and Shameer Aziq confused the Protectors defence. With the goalkeeper only to beat, Nurhilmi unselfishly laid off the ball to the unmarked Shameer, who slotted in Hougang’s equalizer.

Two minutes later, Faozi Rosli sent Nurhilmi clear off the defence again, and the winger crossed the ball to an unmarked Shameer. The 18- year old wasted no chance to head in, to give Hougang a precious lead.

However, Home equalized on 69 minutes , with a counter from the right hand side, and Home substitute no.29 slotted the ball past Hougang’s custodian.

The Young Cheetahs, who finished bottom last season, brought home a precious point from Bishan. The Cheetahs will face Warriors FC next Saturday at Choa Chu Kang Stadium.
