Prime League: Hougang United 2-1 Tanjong Pagar FC

HOUGANG UNITED 2

TANJONG PAGAR UNITED 1

HGFC Scorers: Hwang Kok Chang 52′, Robert Eziakor 80′

The Cheetahs made it three wins in a trot, when they trounced the Jaguars 2-1 in a crunch Prime League fixture at the Hougang Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The corresponding fixture showed how close both teams were when they met back in April. The Cheetahs took a 2-0 lead and squandered plenty of chances to win the game, however, the Jags managed to claw back to goals to earn a valuable point.

However, the Cheetahs were looking to continue their purple patch of form of late, and took no chances in dismantling the Jaguars.

The home side didn’t enjoy much luck in the first half, going behind in the first half on 36 mins, after some fine attacking from the Jaguars forward line. At half time, things didn’t seem to go Hougang’s way.

However, the second half showed a different determination for the Hougang side.

Hwang Kok Chang managed to get a pass from Robert Eziakor and he got a shot from close range, beating Shamsudin in the Tanjong Pagar goal for the elusive equalizer for the Cheetahs in the 52nd minute.

However, that was not the end of the game, as a resolute Hougang side finally got the opportunity to seal the winner in 80 minutes through Robert Eziakor, as he rose high to head home the winner.

The Cheetahs held on for their fourth win and climbed up to 7th in the table.
