Courts Young Lions vs Hougang United
Wednesday 20th February 2013
Kick-off time 7:30pm
Jalan Besar Stadium
Hougang will kick off their 2013 season against a few familiar faces in a young Courts Young Lions team.
The manager in charge is Aide Iskandar, who had taken over Robin Chitrakar for this season for the Cubs.
Aide, who was a player for Sengkang Punggol in 2008-2009, and converted to a coach, up till 2011, led Hougang to their best placing ever, in 7th position. Together with a batch of young players and seasoned campaigners, Hougang finished runners up in the League cup, as well as 4th in the Singapore Cup. All these achievements, was achieved on 2nd season as a full coach.
Besides Aide, the Cheetahs might find three of the Courts Young Lions familiar. Emmeric Ong, who represented Hougang in 2011, has been playing for the Young Lions throughout his NS term. Besides that, a young Ignatius Ang and Farhan Rahmat have all donned the orange and black last season, with Iggy scoring one memorable senior goal against Geylang.
Coach Weaver will have his full squad available for this game, with impressive Robert Eziakor and Mamadou Diallo probably the starting front two for this game, after both have a combined tally of six goals for the pre-season. Fadhil Salim will be starting his fifth season in goal for Hougang.
Hougang will be looking to start the season with a bang, and they would feel welcomed to snatch all three points in Jalan Besar come Wednesday….
