It is a game between two basement clubs in the S.League, when the Cheetahs takes on the null-pointer Courts Young Lions at Hougang Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Although the Cheetahs are on a revival with two wins on a trot, however, the teams around them took all three points, with Geylang winning over Young Lions, Warriors shockingly trouncing DPMM in Brunei and Harimau Muda also despatching the Wasps. However, the Cheetahs have all the confidence to put more despair on Aide Iskandar’s men when they faceoff each other.
Since both teams met back in February, the Young Lions have failed to pick up any points for the last eleven outings this season. Although the Cubs managed to hold Balestier Khalsa during their second game, however, the S.League decided to forfeit all their points and rewarding their opponents a 3-0 win, after they found out that the Young Lions had fielded ineligible players during their first three games.
The Young Lions have added on Raihan Rahman and Iqbal Hussein from Lions XII into their books. In turn, they have lost Fazli Ayob to the same team. However, their most potent player is Sherif El-Masri. Sherif have scored four goals all season, however, in other departments, the Young Lions have yet to find their feet this season.
The Cheetahs, however, are in buoyant mood after the stunning victory against Home United. Against all odds, the Cheetahs managed to fend off any attacks coming from the Protectors and sealed all three points to end the stunning night. Confidence is at all-high in the Hougang camp, as the players have finally found their feet and starting to score goals after a six-game winless streak.
Robert Eziakor will still be doubtful for this game, however, he have started light training and should be back for the game against Tampines Rovers (12 May). However, the Hougang fans would still need to know if Jerome Baker is to appear in Hougang colours at all, after being substituted early since the game against Warriors.
On paper, Hougang looks like they can take all three points in this encounter, but with the eleven point gulf between both teams and to stop the confidence erosion in the dressing room, Aide’s men would do absolutely anything to gain any points from this game.
