The Cheetahs will have their first designated “home” fixture, when they take on Albirex Niigata this Friday at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Although it is their first “home” game, however, being chosen as a live game on Friday, as well as Hougang Stadium’s dressing rooms are under renovation by the Singapore Sports Council, the Cheetahs will temporary play their first six games away from their abode, Hougang Stadium.
Last week was a cracker for the Cheetahs, as they flew 280 miles to Brunei. With many football enthusiasts predicted a DPMM win and a thrashing by DPMM, the bravehearts bravely fought back with 10-men down to take a point off DPMM.
For this game, the Cheetahs will be missing their influential skipper, Lau Meng Meng for the next three fixtures. His left full back deputy, Fazly Hasan, will be able to fill in his shoes. Jerome Baker will be another doubt, failing to shake off his calf injury in time for the DPMM game.
Against Albirex Niigata will not be easy. The Cheetahs were mauled 5-1 in a pre-season friendly, under harsh weather conditions. However, coach Alex Weaver will be looking forward to unleash his strongest warriors possible to take the first eleven. Hougang would be wary of Kento Suzuki, who so far has netted every single game for the Swans. Also, they would be looking forward to cancel out Kazuki Sakamoto, who netted four past them during the friendly.
This would be a live game, shown at 7.45 kickoff time on Supersports Plus Starhub Ch 202.
