Match Preview: Harimau Muda vs Hougang United

S.League fixture 21
Harimau Muda vs Hougang United
Friday 30th August 2013
4:40pm
Stadium Perbadanan Pasir Gudang, Johor.

The Cheetahs will be looking to find their winning ways back, when they cross over the Causeway to meet Harimau Muda in Pasir Gudang on Friday.

The Cheetahs have been unlucky in the last few games; although the plays and passes in the pitch have been impressing the neutrals, but upfront, the Cheetahs have been unlucky not to find the net in many occasions.

Most of the defeats have been single goal defeats, and if the Cheetahs have been more prolific and turned the one goal defeats into one goal wins, the boys would have been above Woodlands Wellington for now.

Scoring only 22 goals in 21 games so far, the Cheetahs have been the second lowest goalscorers in the league. The attacking trio of Liam Shotton, Jerome Baker, Mamadou Diallo have only scored ten goals amongst themselves so far, and would most probably want to salvage the unwanted record during the relegation playoffs coming in September.

However, the Cheetahs might want to turn their attention to their secret weapon in the Prime League. 18-year old Shameer Aziq have been earning plaudits, with 19 goals in the Prime League, and with the Cheetahs only able to finish at 11th place, if the Warriors win DPMM on Thursday, they might want to start Shameer alongside with Diallo, and start racking in the confidence in finding the goals.

Harimau Muda might be a young side, however, they have only been defeated twice at home. Ridzuan Abdunloh is their main threat and their top scorer so far, and Ashmawi Yakin might threaten at the right flank with a trickery or two. However, the Cheetahs have their victory against Harimau Muda in May, and might want to continue the trend of beating the young side at their den.

Mamadou Diallo and captain Lau Meng Meng might be back for this fixture, after missing the last game through suspension. The Cheetahs will be going for this one, before their final fixture against northeastern rivals Home United at Bishan Stadium, before salvaging their season in the relegation playoffs.
