A dominant display from start to finish against Young Lions ensured the Cheetahs winning 3 games consecutively. The team started brightly, controlled the game with purpose with Fabian Kwok nodding in the first goal of the match from Zulfahmi Arifin’s corner. Nazrul Nazari’s long range strike puts us 2-0 up after the cubs lost possession in their own half, followed by high-pressing from the Cheetahs.
A lapse in moment of concentration allowed the Home team to crawl a goal back through Jacob Mahler in the 59th min. Faris Ramli slotted in his 12th goal of the season from Stipe Plazibat’s pass while Mahathir Azeman’s 2nd goal in 2 games puts the game to bed at 4-1. Jacob Mahler’s 2nd goal in injury time makes the score at 4-2.
The game was marred by injuries to Zulfahmi and Timothy Yeo.
After the game, the Cheetahs are currently on 38 points to go level on points with Brunei DPMM with 4 games left to play in the league. Our next match is against Albirex Niigata next Tuesday, 27 August at Jalan Besar Stadium.
