On 5th November 2016, Hougang United Football Club awarded 16 candidates – 11 Polytechnic and 5 ITE students – our 2016 scholarship.
Originally launched in May 2015, the aim of this scholarship is to support footballers to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
Candidates were selected after a stringent process that involved a written submission and panel interview.
Hougang United will be awarding an annual sum to Polytechnic and ITE students to cover their school fees for the remaining duration of their studies. The Scholarship is bond-free and tenable in any of the local institutes of Technical Education or Polytechnics. Application is open to students between the ages of 16 to 23 who will be or are already enrolled in any course of study in these tertiary institutions.
Awardees this year include Prime League players from Home United, Balestier Khalsa, Hougang United, NFL side Katong F.C. as well as female players from Temasek Polytechnic and Tampines Rovers.
