HOUGANG APPOINTS PHILIPPE AW AS HEAD COACH FOR 2017

The club is pleased to confirm the appointment of 40-year-old Philippe Aw as the new head honcho of Hougang United Football Club.

Aw, a former Home United tactician began his coaching career as the COE instructor in 2007, where he actively created pathways for unearthing talents and grooming them as the next generation of footballers. He then with the help of his former club launched the HUFC Kids Academy.

As the academy blossom under his guidance, he took charge of the Prime League squad where he saw them become Prime League champions in 2014.

His big break came in 2015 when Home United appointed him as the senior head coach filling the void left by former Korean colleague Lim Lee Saeng.

During his senior tenure at Home United, he guided the Protectors to the Singapore Cup final, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Albirex Niigata.

Aw has always stayed true to his philosophy of rewarding his young charges first-team experience if they performed well in training; instilling in them a quick attack game play – a trait he will seek to do the same in Hougang United.
