Hougang United will travel to Brunei as huge underdogs as they take on a Wasps side that gave us our heaviest defeat last season. Brunei DPMM will be a tough team to take on, however it is becoming more clearer now to us that our Hougang team will be ready to take on the League’s Best.

Opponent’s Form

The Wasps had a bore 0-0 draw against Home United  in the first match of the season, however, they were assisted by the delays of the lightning system, and of course, taking on the Cheetahs at their homeground, they will certainly put on full throttle on.
The coach:
Vjeran Simunic has emphasised alot by using 3-5-2 during league games. The Wasps rely heavily on the wings in Tales Dos Santos who delievers on so many occasions when setting up lethal attacks for the inside strikers. This form of attack will give the Hougang boys a good test run giving us a true indication on how far we will go this season. To be the best you have to beat the best but doesn’t mean as much now than it will be the end of the season. However, it is clear for Hougang to maintain a winning vibe they will have to pull all the stops out to perform at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Opponents’ Dangerman:
Shahrazen Said.  The Wasps’ lead scorer with a total of 22 goals and providing the club with so many important wins in league games. Apart from that, the new Croatian duo, Dino Drpic and Ivan Bosnjak, both with full international caps for Croatia, will add on a new dimension for the midfield.
Vs Hougang last year:
A 5-1 defeat greeted us at Bandar Seri Begawan last season. Hougang will be wanting to improve on that result to show good early form. Arguable the toughest away trip to play in the league we will be pulling out all stops to halt a firing Brunei. Hougang have made plenty of changes since the last time we met this team and we hope that the changes that have been made and the new found chemistry between the players will be enough to continue the good form we have shown from the first match of our season.
The Cheetah that can turn the game around:
Syaqir Sulaiman will be looking to continue his good form by forming a defensive wall, alongside his defensive partner Hasree Zais and new boy Jeremy Chiang. He will be severyly tested against Brunei and hopefully he will stand strong as ever in the back. Hopefully, can continue the form he displayed against Court Young Lions and continue against the Wasps.
