Hougang will take on Balestier Khalsa for a friendly game at the Toa Payoh Stadium on Friday Night.
The Cheetahs, fresh from a bad pre season defeat against Albirex, will be looking to recover their pre season form against the Tigers.
Balestier, who have retained most of their players from last season, are currently boosted with the signings of Singapore midfielder Qiu Li and Gombak’s famous defensive general, Obadin Aikhena.
Last season, Balestier won Hougang 1-0 on the first meeting, in which Zulkifli Hassim scored the winning goal. However, the Cheetahs impressively humbled the Tigers back in Toa Payoh, with a Basit Hamid double brace, which saw them ran out 3-1 winners.
Coach Alex Weaver will be most probably trying out new tactics for this friendly encounter, to sort out his strongest team, in time for the season opener against the COurts Young Lions on Feb 20.
“The game against Balastier will enable us to change our lineup in accordance with our physical training programme. This means that all of our players will have played 70 minutes plus 20 over two games. Balestier have added a few very good players and will no doubt be very difficult to break down. Darren clearly works hard in this area and it has got them quite a lot of success as a result.”
