WOODLANDS WELLINGTON 0

The Cheetahs had a morale boosting friendly victory over the Rams of Woodlands, courtesy of a 2-0 victory at Hougang Stadium on Friday.

The Cheetahs took an elusive lead on 7 minutes, after Fazly Hasan’s freekick was deflected off a Woodlands defender. Nurhilmi Jasni managed to pounce on the rebound and volleyed the ball into the goal past Yazid Yasin.

The Cheetahs then had numerous chances to increase the lead. Fairoz Hasan had two wonderful chances to score, both one-on-one opportunities, however, Yazid Yasin’s hands were fast enough to deflect the ball out to save his side.

However, eight minutes after the restart, a good ball from Fairoz Hasan on the right was deflected off Shahril Alias’ boot and into the net. The Cheetahs had a two goal lead.

Hougang then had a goal disallowed after Fairoz Hasan headed off a freekick from Sobrie Mazelan. Mamadou Diallo also had a golden chance to make it 3:0, only for the Guinean to chip it carelessly over the advancing Nazri Sabri.

The game ended with a Hougang victory, to add on confidence into their next league game against Brunei DPMM FC on Oct 19.
