Hougang United FC took time off their normal training schedule and were present at the 4th edition of The Straits Times Run in the City 2016 which was held at the F1 Pit Building on 22 May 2016, Sunday.

Despite the heavy downpour the previous night, a good crowd of 12,000 turned up on a cool Sunday pre-dawn for the 18.45km and 10km race before the 5km race took off at 7.45am.

The boys from Hougang were warmly welcome by host Glenn Ong (One FM 91.3) and Charmaine Yee (Kiss 92) and they duly took their spots at the starting line before being joined by thousands of runners for the 5km race.

Entertainment from local bands like The Switch Gang and Jukuleles along the race route, Singapore Grand Prix Pit Stop Challenge and assortment of goodies, such as cotton candy and Old Chang Kee bites from the food trucks.
