INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY AT MONTFORT SECONDARY SCHOOL

Hougang United FC were invited to Montfort Secondary School on 11 April 2016 to celebrated International Friendship Day. Captain Jozef Kaplan, Stipe Plazibat, Fumiya Kogure, M.Anumanthan and Nazrul Nazari were in attendance together with Managers Matthew Tay and Nicholas Low.

During the school assembly, the Cheetahs joined the school in singing the national anthem and reciting the pledge as well as sharing a video presentation on their thoughts on friendship and culture.

They were then welcome on stage to showcase their football skills and wowed the hall with a keepy-ups contest with the students. The 4 lucky participants were rewarded with a HGFC scarf for their sportsmanship.

To end the 1st part of the celebration, the Hougang boys threw mini footballs courtesy of S.League, to the delight of the students and teachers.

During the breakfast session with Principle Mr Mark Gerard Minjoot and school leaders, several discussions were shared on how to develop mental strength, teamwork, motivational advise as well as the benefits of yoga that was conducted as part of HGFC training sessions.
As a gesture of goodwill from the club, Mr Minjoot was presented with a football that were signed by the players.

After breakfast, the players met up with the school sports leaders in the lecture theatre and answered questions that were put forth by them and also shared leadership qualities that is essential for them to lead their teams.

The highlight of the visit was when the players took to the field and conducted a football training session for Class 3E4. Drills and techniques were imparted to the students as they had an hour of fun pairing up with the players in the small sided games. During the debrief, Anumanthan shared the importance of keeping the body well hydrated to prevent injuries and sickness and H-Two-O isotonic drink replenishes the body with fluids, minerals and electrolytes that are lost during activities.
