Atsushi Shirota has been an instrumental figure in this year’s Japanese team of achieving a clean sweep on all domestic silverware including sealing the league championship when they handed Hougang United a 3-0 defeat in October.

Having already played for V-Varen Nagasaki in Japan, he moved to join the S.League club in 2016 and started in almost every game for the White Swans with 3 goals from 23 league appearances.

He stands at 1.81m, is built like a tank and is uncompromising in the challenge – an unshakable presence in the middle of their back three.

The Nagano native is a big reason why Albirex boasted the best defense in the S.League, keeping clean sheets in half of their 24 games.

Hougang United are very pleased to have him bolster our defenses and welcome him on board into the Cheetahs campaign of 2017.

Atsushi Shirota’s message to fans & supporters reads,

“I will be playing for Hougang United Football Club for the 2017 season. I really like the passionate supporters at Hougang Stadium and I’m joining this club to win the titles. We will show the fans our exciting game play so please come to the stadium to support us.”
