Hougang’s outgoing head coach Alex Weaver, has parted ways with the Cheetahs as of 12 June 2013, to take charge of Warriors FC.
The Warriors, who had parted ways with V.Selvaraj by mutual consent, chose Weaver ahead of other popular candidates, namely former Hougang & Tampines coach Nenad Bacina and former Home United coach Steve Darby.
Weaver’s five month’s stay with Hougang only picking up only one win, two draws and four defeats, putting the Cheetahs down to second last in the table back in April. The HGFC management decided to put him into an observers’ role, and putting Prime League coach Johana Johari as an interim head coach, as he and Hougang had a turn around in their fortunes after that.
HGFC would like to express Weaver their thanks towards his contribution to the Cheetahs for his five month stay, and hope he would bring Warriors FC to another level, as well as his future endeavours.
