An inspired performance by Hougang’s centre half Shahir Hamzah proved to be the difference as the Cheetahs mauled Warriors FC 2-1 at Hougang Stadium on Sunday Evening.

Shahir scored twice in each half, as the Cheetahs cruised to their seventh victory of the season, after the last two games disappointingly ended with cruel defeat.

The Cheetahs were in full confidence, facing a Warriors side needing points to move out of the bottom two. The Cheetahs took the lead as early as the 14th minute with Shahir Hamzah’s first goal of the season.

Hougang then pressed on to extend their lead, but were thwarted by the Warriors’ stubborn defence, which look very cautious after conceding an early goal.

The final minutex of the first half was very nervous for the Cheetahs as the Warriors boys were pressing hard for an equalizer. They managed to find one in the 42nd minute.

The Cheetahs then changed their playing style, going for the kill in the second half. However, it was proven to be futile as the Warriors defence still stood strongly pressure after pressure.

Hougang finally snatched a victory in injury time, when Shahir Hamzah scored a winner to earn Hougang their three points. The Cheetahs moved to sixth in the table, while Warriors stayed second from bottom.
