The Hougang Prime League team created a shock result in the Prime League, by defeating third placed Geylang International 3-2 at the Bedok Stadium on Saturday evening.
The first half was a half void of clear chances as both teams looks very cautious in their play approach. However, the Cheetahs took a lead just before half time when Hwang Kok Chang took his opportunity very well to net in his fourth goal this season to take his team a precious lead at half time.
However, the Eagles managed to put in the equaliser on 57 minutes to put on the pressure on the Cheetahs.
On 77 minutes, Hougang’s most promising youngster Shameer Aziq managed to slot in the all-important lead. That was his 9th goal in the Prime League this season.
The Cheetahs then sealed all three points after Sobrie Mazelan made good of his play and managed to score the third goal for the Cheetahs.
There was time for the Eagles to put in their second goal with six minutes remaining, however, the Cheetahs managed to withstand the late pressure to remain the score at 3-2 till the final whistle.
