Match Preview: Geylang International vs Hougang United

The Cheetahs will be returning to League Cup action again this Tuesday, when they travel to Bedok Stadium to face the Eagles of Geylang.

Both teams are on one point each, and the winner of this game would progress as group winners, while the losers will contest the plate competition.

Both teams have drawn the current leaders, Albirex Niigata to a stalemate, and since Albirex have a high possibility of qualifying from the group already, unless both Geylang and Hougang have a score draw, then the Swans will be eliminated due to goal difference.

If the Cheetahs and Eagles hold to another goalless draw, the group will be decided on yellow and red cards, or possibly draw lots to see who will advanced.

The Eagles will hold home advantage and are strong at home, whereas the Cheetahs could count on their rejuvenation on form books to outrun the Eagles in Bedok. The previous meeting between both teams was in the league back in April, where the visitors were dominating the game, but could not found the net past Joey Sim. Jozef Kaplan and a late goal from Khairulnizam Jumahat won the Eagles that night and cost Alex Weaver the hotseat.

Both teams will look forward on cup luck where Hougang finished runners up in 2007 and 2011, and Geylang were runners up to DPMM on last year’s edition.
