The Cheetahs goes into the second round of Singapore Cup matches, playing against last year finalist, Brunei DPMM. The game was a re-match of their last Singapore Premier League (SPL) match where DPMM won 5-4.

Two changes in Cheetahs’ starting line-up where keeper, Khairulhin Khalid was recalled, while Stipe Plazibat comes in for injured Anu.

Despite creating numerous chances, the SPL champion’s defense stood tall, clearing all the loose balls and defended well. Both teams went into the break goalless, where the Cheetahs could be home and dry in securing the 3 points during the first half.

Second half started with the away side turning to counter attacks in unlocking Hougang United’s defense. The talking point came when 72nd minute when Faris Ramli was fouled inside the box, but was only rewarded with a free-kick.

DPMM’s counter attack on the 80th minute works to effect when Adi Said forced a save from Khairulhin Khalid, with Andrei Varankou tapping in the rebound. A goal is all they need to secure the 3 points to move them up to first spot in Group B.
