Hougang United have today signed midfielder Azhar Sairudin from Home United Football Club.
The 30-year-old Singapore International who has 2 caps to his name had moved from Hougang to Home two years prior and appeared over 30 times for the Protectors this year.
Considered one of S.League’s best performers for 2016, he delivered 9 assists, scored 3 goals and paved the way for his former club to secure the final AFC Cup spot.
Azhar honed his craft during his four year tenure at Hougang, in that time he established himself as a midfield boss and between 2011 to 2014 tallied 118 appearances for the Cheetahs in all competitions.
So it came as no surprise when Azhar Sairudin announced his availability, Hougang swooped in for the silky play-maker. And whilst the club may have momentarily consolidated key midfielders, his addition will certainly inject quality into the ranks.
Azhar Sairudin’s message to fans and supporters,
“It feels great to be back at Hougang United. It is the place that launched my career; and a place where Hougang HOOLs witnessed my abilities. It is my hope that I repay the supporters with my performance in 2017.”
