The game started at a slow tepid pace, with neither side troubling the goalkeepers.

The breakthrough finally came when Fazli Jaffar cross was inadvertently deflected by Kento Fukuda.
Captain of the day Igor Cerina then found a chance to have a shot but it went a few inches wide as the Cheetahs went into the break with a slender one goal lead.

Geison Moura doubled the goal difference with a dazzling run to skip past two challenges before slotting the ball in to the corner past Siddiq Durimi.
Moments later, it became 3-0. A poor clearance by Geylang found Firman Hanif. Firman then took the ball and composingly slotted the ball with his weaker foot into the bottom corner.
Hougang stood firm as Geylang tried to a goal back. They were not helped by off-target shots. Leonel Felice and Aliff Shafaein were unable to fund the mark as the chemistry between Syaqir Sulaiman and Igor Cerina was terrific.
Despite the lead , Hougang did not let up and their hardwork rewarded them with another goal by Geison Moura to double up his goals.
After the match , Firman was asked on how was the match and his first goal of the season. He said , ” We were hungry for victory tonight and thus the result shows and everyone work very hard for each other tonight. I definitely felt very happy and grateful for the goal.”
