The Cheetahs wrapped up the 2014 S.League season on a high note with resounding 4-2 thumping of the Jaguars at Hougang Stadium on Wednesday evening.

A brace from Geison Moura, a goal by Firman Hanif and Igor Ferreira round up the season in an impressive style.

The day started off with the Cheetahs donning “Get Well Soon, Coach” shirts as a tribute to coach Amin Nasir, who is currently undergoing his treatment for cancer.

It was the Cheetahs who started off brightly, as Geison Moura capitalised on Hafiz Osman’s error to clear a long punt from Firman Hanif. He blasted the ball past Jags’custodian Herrisson after just eight minutes.

Few minutes later, a mistake from Hougang’s keeper Basil Chan, who cleared the ball into Kamel Ramdhani’s path, however, the Frenchman unable to muster his shot on target with the goal in his mercy.

However, Basil made amends with a stunning shot blocker from a Firdaus Idros’ goalbound header.

The visitors would have equalized, when Igor Cerina’s clearence cannoned off Sebastian Etiemble. With the goal at his mercy and both Igor Cerina and Basil left stranded, the ball sailed over the crossbar.

Eventually, the Cheetahs took the lead few minutes before half time. Firman Hanif easily weaved in through the right flank, and slammed the ball home past Aurellien Herisson.

However, five minutes after the restart, Kamel Ramdhani converted a spotkick to put the Jaguars back in the game, after Basil Chan was adjudged to bring down Firdaus Idros in the box.

That brought the game to life, and the Jaguars decided to take the game by their hands, but they missed chances after chances.

They paid for their failed chances, as Igor Ferreira headed home from a corner kick on 73 minutes to make the score 3-1.

Hougang soon made it 4-1 for the night, after his mazy runs broke through the Jaguars’ backline and also managed to weave past Herrisson before rolling the ball into the net in 78 minutes.

The Jaguars managed their second consolation goal late in the game from Asraf Rashid, but by the time, the Cheetahs ended the game on a high note as they finished 7th for the season, with 42 points.
