Two goals in eight minutes by substitute Ashari Borhan condemn the Cheetahs to their first defeat in the 2014 Prime League season on Saturday afternoon.

The Cheetahs were looking for their first victory of the season. Despite dominating much of the first half, they were unable to convert their best chances.

The Cheetahs almost took the lead on seven minutes when Faridzuan Fuad, who had beaten the offside trap, faced off against goalkeeper Tham Yong Jun, only for the striker’s shot to go wide.

Six minutes later, Faridzuan had a second chance after a good cross from Hydhir Mohammad. His first touch was too heavy and Tham Yong Jun managed to save the tame shot.

The Cheetahs eventually took the lead after 41 minutes. Faridzuan’s freekick found an unmarked Zulcarlnaen Kiflee. The 18-year-old managed to tap the ball in.

The second half looked like an easy stroll for the Cheetahs until coach Saswadimata Dasuki introduced Ashari Borhan and A Parvitharan.

The game headed towards the Cubs’ way as Parvitharan and Taufiq Muqminin combined to provide Ashari Borhan the equalizer on the 78th minute.

Taufiq Muqminin also played a part in getting a penalty for the Cubs two minutes later but Sadik Said’s weak shot from the penalty spot wasn’t difficult for Hakim Sutar to handle.

Taufiq and Parvitharan played another part for the Cubs, as a goalmouth scramble ensured Ashari Borhan the simplest of tap-in to give the Cubs all three points.

The Cheetahs will meet the Warriors next on 24th Mar.
